| 28 Apr 2021 | 11:38
The Monroe Historical Society dedicated an historic marker on Sunday, April 25, at the site of where the first Presbyterian service ever held in the town of Monroe took place off Reynolds Road under an apple tree on April 20, 1783. A month later, May 28, 1783, the framework of the church at Seamamville was raised. The plaque was donated by Joseph M. Dierna, the former president of Orange and Rockland Realty Corporation in Monroe who died Jan. 25, 2020. Picture at the historic marker’s unveiling are: Monroe Supervisor Tony Cardone, Monroe Village Trustees Dory Houle, Debbie Behringer and John Karl, Monroe Town Historian Jim Nelson, Monroe Mayor Neal Dwyer and Pastor Jonathan Hoeldtke.
