Monroe. Time to get rid of your yard waste

| 08 Apr 2025 | 01:22

Although yard waste is not accepted with regular garbage pickups, local residents have other options for getting rid of that unwanted brush.

For Town of Monroe residents (not including the villages of Monroe and Harriman) yard waste can be dropped off at the Town of Monroe Highway Department, 87 Mine Road, weekdays from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Brush must be under four feet in length and no larger than five inches in diameter. No logs or wood will be accepted.

Residents must sign in at the office before dropping off. A driver’s license or ID is required. Commercial and business waste is not permitted.

For those unable to drop off on a weekday, the Town Compost Facility at 813 Lakes Road will accept yard waste on the following Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.: April 26, May 3, May 10 and May 17.

For more information, call the Town Highway Department at 845 782-8583.

Residents of the villages of Monroe and Harriman should contact their village clerks for information about disposal options.
