Photographer Sharon Scheer captured this image of this banded American Bald Eagle perched on a tree in front of North Main Elementary School. Once this federally protected bird was on the brink of extinction caused from DDT in sprays to control weeds. “Now there is a program that protects and monitors using satellite chip in bands. “This majestic raptor was looking for a free meal on North Main Street this week,” Scheer reported. “An unfortunate squirrel was the lure. I got lucky as six crows spotted it, too. I watched in amazement. He left without the meal but made my day.”
