The Woodbury Historical Society is located in the historic branch of the Rushmore Memorial Public Library and the office of the Town Historian, Leslie Rose. The building was built in 1923 by the Charles E. Rushmore Family so that the Town could have a public library.Mr. Rushmore was a prominent and wealthy attorney who worked in NYC and lived in Woodbury. Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota was named for him. He died in 1930. The Woodbury Historical Society is housed in the Rushmore Library in Highland Mills. It was originally the Woodbury Public Library on Route 32. Years later, when the town built a new library, the Rushmore building was re-dedicated to serve the needs of the society and to house the town archives. Highland Mills.
