'With Mike McGinn and Sal Scancarello on the town board, Monroe has become a better place to live and do business'
Although we’re not electing a President or Governor, this year’s is still a crucial election for Monroe.
The current Town Board has accomplished a lot, but much more remains to be done. And they’re working on it, seven days a week. It’s important that we keep the Board intact in this election to allow it continue its good work.
The United Monroe Executive Committee is proud to endorse Mike McGinn and Sal Scancarello for reelection to Councilmen on the Monroe Town Board. We ask all Monroe voters to join us in casting their ballots for Mike and Sal on November 5th or the 10-day early voting period.
Monroe is enjoying a resurgence that many thought impossible when we came together to protest the prior Town Board’s ill-conceived purchase of the local movie theater, to prevent its attempt to hand over 507 acres to Kiryas Joel and to fight its subsequent approval of a smaller KJ annexation.
As a result of the years-long persistence of its volunteers and the continued high turnout of Monroe’s voters, we now have a fully independent town government.
Our elected leadership is dedicated to equitably pursuing the interests of all residents and operates with accountability, civility, transparency and professionalism.
The major accomplishments of this Town Board are many. Councilmen McGinn and Scancarello have been key players in making these happen.
1. The Monroe Movie Theater is no longer a financial burden on us taxpayers. Via a nationwide search and negotiation led by Mike McGinn, management and all operating expenses were transferred to an experienced private entity, Flagship Cinemas, relieving Monroe of over $400,000 of loss every year. Flagship has opened all six theaters and is generating revenues far beyond those the town achieved.
2. Business is coming back to Monroe. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Councilman Scancarello, who is tasked with economic development, new businesses were persuaded to invest in the Village – LoveBites Chocolate Shoppe, Amity Beauty and the soon-to-open Blend Smoothie Bar in the Stop and Shop Plaza.
3. Community participation and pride is on the rise. The twice-a-year Monroe Food Truck Festival has brought us together with music and great food each June and October since 2018.
4. With the full participation of all interested residents, a new land use Master Plan was developed with zoning to encourage smart development and protect our open spaces.
With Mike McGinn and Sal Scancarello on the town board, Monroe has become a better place to live and do business.
Please vote Row “B” to re-elect Mike McGinn and Sal Scancarello to the Monroe Town Board and keep Monroe moving forward into a brighter future.
