I am pleased to announce my candidacy for Monroe Town Clerk in this year’s election. It has been my honor to serve the Town of Monroe community for the past four years as Deputy Town Clerk, during which time I have had the pleasure of meeting and assisting many of you.
Throughout my tenure, I have gained the necessary experience to effectively serve as Town Clerk, a position I was unanimously appointed to by a bipartisan Town Board in September. Today, I ask for your support on Nov. 2 as I seek the elected Town Clerk position.
For the past 25 years my husband Jeff and I have been fortunate to call Monroe home. Together, we have raised our two children, Christina, a 2020 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School, and Tyler, a sophomore at Monroe-Woodbury High School. Prior to joining the Town of Monroe Clerk’s office, I was employed by the Monroe-Woodbury School District for five years.
Service and involvement in our community remains at the forefront of my efforts. Previously, I participated in the Monroe Cheese Festival as a vendor for six years. I continue to volunteer my time teaching second grade religion at St. Anastasia’s in Harriman where I have taught for the past five years. I have also assisted in many town events including collections to benefit the Troops, Toys for Tots, Adopt A Family and the local food pantry. I pride myself in giving my time and energy to these worthy causes.
As appointed Town Clerk, I have already begun to make important changes based on resident needs, including extending the expiration period on resident Permanent Handicap Placards from two years to five years. Understanding the need to stay up-to-date on guidelines and protocol set forth by New York State, I am committed to implementing change to benefit the residents of the Town of Monroe.
As Monroe evolves, it remains a special town to live and work in. My ongoing promise is to work hard for all residents and the betterment of our community. Thank you in advance for your support and for voting Valerie Bitzer Town Clerk on Nov. 2.
Early voting begins Oct. 23 through Oct. 31 (visit www.monroeny.org for voting sites and schedules).
With gratitude,
Valerie Bitzer
Town Clerk (Appointed)
Town of Monroe
