Monday, March 23, 2020, arrived and so much was shut down.
COVID-19 had gotten our attention. This was serious.
It posed a threat to our health and lives.
But the dedication of so many various essential workers was not shut down. They got up on that Monday morning and reported for duty.
So many continued to do their jobs. A few to consider and be grateful for: postal workers, grocery store workers, sanitation workers, EMTs, therapists, police, firefighters, building maintenance, day care providers, nurses, doctors and more.
Thank you to all of those who carried on and did your work that you willingly signed up for.
Teachers and other school personnel: You are essential, too. Your work is service and community oriented. You are valuable and irreplaceable. You work is vital and is needed in all times.
The risks of COVID-19 are real. All of those other workers faced risks too and went to work. They still do. They selflessly do their part to ensure vital services continue uninterrupted.
Teachers and other school personnel: Please do yours and return to work in the same capacity you did before March 23. Children are depending on you and need you. Thank you.
