Skoufis to governor: ‘EMS workers ‘deserve prioritization in Phase 1A as full and equal members of the health care community’

Dear Governor Cuomo:

Many EMS workers have contacted my office in recent days concerned that they are not being adequately prioritized in your plan to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine.

These men and women, most of whom are volunteers in my Senate District, have selflessly and tirelessly put themselves on the frontline of this pandemic and are a vital part of the health care system. They are eager to take action to protect themselves, their families and their patients.

EMS workers are asked to respond to emergencies without knowledge of the patient’s potential COVID condition, putting them at heightened risk.

They deserve prioritization in Phase 1A as full and equal members of the health care community.
