Sarita Bhandarkar ‘will be a better representative for me and for our community’
Currently, there is a lot of attention being given to our national elections, but it is important to be an educated voter at the local level, too. Our representative in the State Assembly, Colin Schmitt, votes on issues that directly affect our day-to-day lives in New York State.
Colin’s voting record in Albany is appalling. He voted no to increase the number of speed cameras in school zones. He voted no to prohibit firearms on school campuses and he voted no to prohibiting discrimination based on gender identity or expression. And, during a pandemic, he voted no to authorizing absentee voting due to risk of contracting a disease.
Colin Schmitt’s voting is not in line with what he says on the campaign trail. He says he supports women and families. However, Colin’s voting record does not support equality for women, seniors, minorities and keeping our community safe. Colin’s voting record lines up with his political party’s interests, not his constituents.
His record ignores the needs of single parents, struggling families and undermines their health care and financial needs. I can’t support someone whose votes ignore these important issues.
Sarita Bhandarkar’s record demonstrates true advocacy for families, women, minorities, seniors and the principle that constituents come first.
Sarita is a small business owner, a lawyer, a former public school teacher and fierce advocate for the underserved in our community.
I will be voting for Sarita Bhandarkar for New York State Assembly as I know she will be a better representative for me and for our community.
