Friday, Aug. 14, was the kick-off of Monroe Downtown Dining in the Village of Monroe.
Downtown dining is happening Fridays from 5 to 10 p.m. and Saturdays from 2 to 10 p.m. through the end of September.
Lake Street in the Village of Monroe is closed to traffic on Fridays and Saturdays The restaurants along the main street, including Plum House, Amendola’s, Planet Pizza, LoveBites Café and the soon-to-open Artyxis café and bakery, are participating in this al fresco dining event.
Downtown dining opened to an enthusiastic crowd of community members, who were very excited to enjoy an outdoor meal with their families, friends and neighbors.
I would like to thank the many individuals who worked so hard to bring this wonderful event to Monroe:
Village Mayor Neil Dwyer and Village Trustees Irene Conklin, Debbie Behringer, Carey Alley and Dorey Houle;
Town of Monroe Councilmen Sal Scancarello and Rick Colon;
Village of Monroe DPW and the Police Department;
Volunteers from the Monroe Downtown Revitalization Committee; and
Village Clerk Ann-Margret Baxter.
They all collaborated to create a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. We are looking forward to the continuation of this event into the fall.
