The defending state champions
Central Valley. The Monroe-Woodbury Girls Varsity Soccer team begin the defense of their state title on Sept. 4 in Cornwall.
Tuesday, August 27 at Northern Valley Regional High School Demarest NJ,
Tuesday morning, Aug. 27, the Crusaders traveled to Demarest, N.J., to face the Norsemen of Northern Valley Regional High School in a preseason scrimmage.
The Crusaders enter the 2019 season as the reigning New York Class AA champions and have put in hard work over the last week as they prepare to defend their title.
Head Coach Bill Mpasiakos enters his fourth season with a 63-5-3 record. That includes three consecutive Section 9 titles (six in a row for the Crusaders), two Regional and one State Championship.
The Crusaders return a strong core of veteran players, including nine seniors and several underclassmen who have logged considerable time.
The team is hoping that the work and chemistry that they are developing during the preseason pays off as they realize that everybody will be gunning for them this year.
The Crusaders will open their season when they travel to Cornwall to take on the Dragons on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
