Swim and dive team captures title

CENTRAL VALLEY — This past weekend, the Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Girls Swimming and Diving team won its third consecutive

The divers, led by sophomore Tierney Gillen and senior Claudia Kolakowski, posted 33 points on opening night to get the team off to a tremendous start, Coach Justin Wright reported in an e-mail exchange with The Photo News.

The swimming portion of the meet on Saturday was a total team effort, Wright added, with 11 different girls scoring points in the meet.

Emily McGurk

Morgan Fairclough

Erica Bachiller

Caroline Cole

Charmaine Barlao

Natalie Shoiock

Rachel Malzacher.

In addition, Taylor Stalnaker set a new school record in the 200 freestyle and Morgan Fairclough’s win in the 200 Individual medley. Both were New York State qualifying swims.

The Section championships are in two weeks at Valley Central.
