Smith Clove Park basketball tournament a success
Monroe. This was the first tournament of its kind for the coach.
Coach Dan Ryan, a basketball coach for over 30 years, held a three-on-three basketball tournament for kids 16 and under at Smith Clove Park on Saturday, August 10.
”It’s my first three-on-three tournament so I didn’t know how many would show up, especially since it rained the night before, But I was pleasantly surprised as we had a nice turnout. The boys were inspiring with an abundance of talent and grit.”
According to Coach Ryan, each team gave great performances. He gave a special shout out to one of the dads, Karim McFarlane, a college basketball coach, who helped referee the game alongside Coach Ryan.
“The boys were fantastic! The day was one to remember,” Coach Ryan added.
After the tournament, everyone went home and watched the U.S. men’s basketball team defeat France in the Olympics for the basketball gold medal, as did the women’s team.
