Peter Mastropolo awarded the 2019 Michael J. Finnegan Scholarship
Central Valley. One of the captains of the Monroe-Woodbury football team, Peter Mastropolo ranks in the top 3 percent of his class. He plans to attends the Stevens Institute of Technology in the fall.
Peter Mastropolo was received the 2019 Michael J. Finnegan Scholar Athlete Scholarship at the Monroe-Woodbury Parents 'Football Club annual awards dinner, held last month at Falkirk Estate & Golf Club in Central Valley.
Mastropolo, a senior in the 2020 M-W graduating class, received the $15,000 scholarship Award.
He ranks in the top 3 percent of his graduating class, is a member of the National Honor Society; has has a four year cumulative grade point average of 98 percent and a cumulative score of 1460 on the Math and Critical Reading parts of the SAT exam.
He was a captain of the M-W Varsity Football team.
He also volunteered for the Breast Cancer Walk and with the Honor Flight Organization. He is Safe School Ambassador, a member of The Athletic Club as well as the Wind Ensemble.
Mastropolo also tutors students as a member of The National Honor Society.
The M-W Football Team Coaching staff made the following comments about this young man:
"Peter has a innate and natural ability to play the game of football, extremely coachable and never questioned what was asked of him. He is the embodiment of this prestigious award."
Mastropolo plans to continue his education at attend Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J., in the fall.
