OC Smash 8U are champions of the USABL Summer Slam
MONROE. The OC Smash Travel Baseball team, traveled to Branchburg, N.J., on July 27-28 for the USABL Summer Slam baseball tournament.
The OC Smash 8U travel team, a Monroe-based program for 5-9 year olds, hit the road on July 27 to compete in the USABL Summer Slam Tournament in Branchburgh, N.J.
The Smash players won their first game with a 6-5 walk-off win over a tough Newark team.
They followed that win up with a 6-1 victory over the Montgomery Cougars and a 12-7 win over Old Tappan to put them in the championship game.
The championship game was hard fought with the team pulling out a solid 13-1 win over the Montgomery Cougars for the tournament championship.
All of the coaches and players on the team played a part in the championship
.The program celebrated its second-anniversary in July with plans to continue to focus on the development of it players in a fun atmosphere to promote a passion and love for the game.
