Monroe-Woodbury Girls Varsity Tennis team continue to roll
CENTRAL VALLEY — On Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 26, the Monroe-Wooddbury Girls Varsity Tennis team celebrated the seniors as the team hosted the Tigers of Kingston in a OCIAA Division match.
The seniors were given posters, candy and had their photos taken to honor their service to the team.
The first-place Crusaders entered the match with a 7-1-0 with a 4-1 record in Division 1 play.
The Crusaders swept through the singles matches with Maeve Cassidy wining her match 6-0, 7-5, Makaela Hung taking her match 6-3,6-3, Amaya Grant rolled to a 6-1,6-2 and LeAnna Lei winning 6-1, 7-5.
The Crusaders Doubles then continued the shut out as Jenna Costelloe and Emily Walker won 6-0,6-0, followed by Amy Sternberg and Jill Backus 2-6,6-2, 8-6 victory, and finally Sabrina Kaplan and Sophia Maier finished off the sweep of the Tigers with a 6-2,6-1 victory.
The Crusaders victory brings their record to 8-1-0 on the season. Their next match will be on Saturday when they travel to Pine Bush.
