Most of the girls in the Monroe Junior Varsity Cheer team, 21 girls this season, have been cheering together since they were five or six years old, said Coach Courtney.
“They are a dedicated team of cheerleaders who absolutely love everything about the sport,” said Courtney.
As their athletic skills progressed, she said, “They learned what it means to be part of a team.”
This year they were Empire State champions. They placed second in Trenton at regional championships, which qualified them for the national competition at Universal Studios, where they placed second in their Level 3 category.
