On Monday evening, Sept. 23, the Monroe-Woodbury Girls Varsity Soccer team hosted the Wallkill Panthers in a non-league match.
In a battle of two very strong one-loss teams, the Crusaders were able to outdueled the Panthers 3-1.
In the first match, the Crusaders edged out a determined effort by the Panthers and took a 25-21 victory.
The Panthers showed their teeth in the second match and overpowered the Crusaders 25-11.
In a crucial third match the Crusaders won a hard-fought sew-saw battle with a 25-21 victory.
In the fourth set the Crusaders jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they went on to a 25-20 win.
Outstanding efforts were turned in by Crusaders: Jordan Ader 10 digs, 18 assists and five aces; Madalyn Barry 8 digs and 8 kills; and Catenna Schiff 14 digs.
The Crusaders' victory brings their record to 6-1 on the season.
