The Crusader Boys and Girls track teams took on the Goldbacks of Newburgh in a league meet at Monroe Woodbury High School on a cool Tuesday afternoon last week. Unfortunately the Goldbacks Boys team was unable to attend the meet, but the Crusader Boys were able to compete against themselves and the clock.
The Crusader Girls team looked strong as they defeated the Goldbacks by winning 14 of the 16 events. An outstanding performance for the Crusaders Girls team was turned in by Kaylen Tenemille, who won the 100-meter race in 12.64, the 200-meter race in 26.30 and the long jump by going 16-7. For the boys, Quincy Surpris swept the 100-meter in 12:23 and 200-meter in 23:76. Paul Belmont took the 400 hurdles in 1:05.82 and won the pole vault with a jump of 9-6.
The Crusader Boys track team will be in action when they travel to Wallkill on Wednesday and the Girls team will be in action next Saturday when they travel to Goshen.
