Central Valley. The 15-5 M-W Varsity Girls Basketball team awaits the playoff
The Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Girls Basketball team wrapped up its regular season last week when they hosted the Goldbacks of Newburgh.
The Crusaders entered the game with a 14-5 record on the season after dropping a 51-43 loss to Kingston in their last game.
By comparison, the Goldbacks are struggling through a one-win season.
The Crusaders jumped out to a 24-5 lead in the first quarter with senior Olivia Shippee scoring seven of her 12 points in the game.
Arianna Exarchakis added seven more point in the second quarter, as the Crusaders took a 41-9 lead.
Madison Fileen added four of her 12 in the game as the Crusaders stretched the lead to 58-9.
In the final quarter, Emily Turbides added four more points as the Crusaders ran away with a 64-19 victory.
The victory brings their record to 15-5 on the season.
Their first opponent in the upcoming playoffs will be determined next week.
