Central Valley. Players prepped for upcoming varsity girls soccer season
On a picture perfect Tuesday morning, Aug. 22, the Crusaders Girls Soccer Team held their second practice of the season at Monroe-Woodbury High School.
The Crusaders’ season ended last year with a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Ward Melville in the State semi-finals, but the team looks to make another long run into the playoff again this year.
The team lead by Head Coach Bill Mpasiakos and Assistant Coach Elise Fugowski have amassed a record of 110-12-6 over the last seven years, making Monroe-Woodbury one of the premiere teams in New York.
The Crusaders have won six Section 9 titles, four Regional and two State Titles over that same time period.
The team lost 11 seniors from last year but the combination of several travel teams that feed into the Crusader program and by the large number of players who will be trying out they should field another strong team again this year.
The Crusaders open their season this week in an away match against the Washingtonville Wizards.
