Central Valley. Monroe-Woodbury varsity wrestlers dominate Kingston 63-12
On Tuesday night, Jan. 31, the Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Wrestling team hosted the Tigers of Kingston.
In a ceremony before the start of the match the Crusaders honored the senior wrestlers and their families for their participation in the program.
The match started with Crusader Kelly Sullivan (102 lbs.) recording a fall in 1:53 of his match.
He was followed by Crusaders Elijah Brown (110 lbs.) 15-2 and Marco Piazza (118 lbs.) 16-1 Tec Fall victories.
Maxim Javorsky (126 lbs.) took only 3:18 to record a fall and he was followed by Liam Hayes (132 lbs.) who needed only 3:00 to record his fall.
With the Crusaders off to a 27-0 lead, Kingston took the 138 lbs. class to get on the board.
The Crusaders then recorded falls in five of the last seven matches.
The Crusaders lead grew to 51-6 with the following decisions: Michael Rosenblum (145 lbs.) 2:10, Marcus Charlot (152 lbs.) 1:58, Aaron Bernard (160 lbs.) 1:47 and Isaiah Grant (172 lbs.) received a forfeit.
Crusader Nicholas Hansen (189 lbs.) then recorded the fastest pin of the night when it took him :09 to record a fall.
He was followed by Eryk Shammgod (215 lbs.) who only need :47 to end his match with a fall.
The Tigers took the 285 lbs. class but the Crusaders took a 63-12 victory.
The Crusaders will be in action on Friday and Saturday the 10 and 11 when they host the Section 9 sectional finals.
