Central Valley. Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Girls Track team shows speed, endurance and strength
On Tuesday, April 25, at Monroe-Woodbury High School, the Crusaders Girls track team hosted the Middies of Middletown.
In a show of speed, endurance and strength, the team captured first place in all 17 events.
Crusader Kaylen Tenemille took first in the 100 and 200 meter races with times of 12.51 and 26.05.
Emeline Clark came in first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01; she also showed her versatility by taking first in the the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.44.
Samantha Brodie’s time of 1:11.73 gave her a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles.
Natalie Harwood came in first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:37.28.
Lily Benza’s time of 5:23.33 gave her first in the 1500 meter race and Mia Sisilli’s time of 11:30.08 placed her first in the 3000 meter race.
The Crusaders swept the 4x100 meter, 4x400 meter and the 4x800 meter relay races with great team efforts. In the field events the Crusader dominance continued.
Christiane Armstrong’s throw of 69-07.75 gave her first in the discus and Breanna Junious throw of 27-02.25 took first in the shot put.
Kaylen Tenemille showed her versatility when her long jump of 16-09.75 took first.
Amaya Grant’s Triple Jump of 33-04.50 gave her a first.
Elizabeth Apostolico took the pole vault by clearing 10-06.00 and Rikayla Bingham’s took the high jump at 5-00.00.
After the Crusaders celebrated their 102.50-38.50 victory over Middletown, they held a ceremony to honor the seniors on this year’s team.
