Central Valley. Crusader wrestlers go to 24-2 with their latest win over NFA
On Tuesday, Jan. 17, the Crusaders and the Goldbacks of Newburgh battled on the mats at Monroe-Woodbury High School.
The match started with 126 lbs. class with Maxim Javorsky getting the Crusaders started by taking a 10-6 decision.
The Crusaders jumped out to a lead when Liam Hayes at 132 lbs. recorded a fall in 2:54 and Marcus Charlot at 138 lbs. needed only 54 seconds to record his win. They were followed by Jordan Brown at 145 lbs. who added a 19-4 technical fall and the score was 20-0.
After the Goldbacks took the 152 lbs. match, Isaiah Grant at 160 lbs. needed only 1:19 to pin his opponent but the Goldbacks took the 172 lbs. contest. Eryk Shammgod at 189 lbs. answered and recorded a fall in 3:08 before the Goldbacks took 215 lbs. class match.
Crusader Jose Hernandez Rosa at 285 lbs. pined his opponent in 2:20 before Newburgh took the 102 lbs. and the 110 lbs. matches but Crusader Marco Piazza 118 lbs. finished off the match with a fall at 1:09.
The fifth ranked Crusaders’ 44-26 victory over the Goldbacks brings their record to 24-2 on the season.
Their next match will be against the Pine Bush Bushmen.
