A new era
Central Valley. Monroe-Woodbury athletes experience their new turf field.
On a beautiful Monday afternoon, Sept. 9, Crusaders got to walk out on their new turf field for the first time.
At about 2:15 p.m., members of the Board of Education and Monroe-Woodbury administrators greeted members of the varsity football and boys and girls Soccer teams as they got their first chance to touch and feel their new home.
They were not disappointed.
With almost Christmas morning glee, they ran, jumped and touched the new field that they had been waiting.
Athletic Director Lori Hock gathered the athletics near the middle of the field and asked them to play with dignity, passion and Crusader Pride as they move their games on to the new field.
The main field that is lined for football, soccer and lacrosse is done; the new track, however, is still under construction. Work on the new plateau that will be for baseball, soccer and lacrosse is moving along and should be ready fairly soon.
The work on the new softball field that is going to be on the footprint of the old baseball field is just beginning.
With the upgrades in the gym and the new fields it’s the being of an exciting new area in Crusader Sports.
