— The Meat Packing Beef Boys recently captured the Empire Cup during the 2013 New York Roller Hockey Season.

The team is comprised of 13 Monroe residents with two players from other towns. The Empire Cup is awarded each year to the Tier 1 champion and has marked the top team in the league since 2004.

The New York Roller Hockey League is one of the largest adult leagues in the metropolitan area, comprising of 19 teams, with membership more than 275 in 2013. League games are played at the Ice Time Sports Complex in Newburgh.

The season
The Meat Packing Beef Boys went undefeated during the NYRHL 2013 campaign, compiling a 14-0-1 record.

They were the most dominant team in the league while playing in the most competitive division and the toughest schedule. The team averaged 10 goals per game while allowing just four goals per game.

During the 2013 playoff run, the MPBB went 3-0 while playing only the top tier teams. The team received contributions from all their players both offensively and defensively. The scoring was the most balanced in the league.

In addition, the MPBB played strong and aggressive defense, allowing the fewest goals and least amount of shots on goal in the league.

In addition, the MPBB participated in the annual Susquehanna Tournament in the Men’s Gold division, going 5-0. During this tournament the Meat Packing Beef Boys displayed tremendous skill and power. They beat a semi-pro team twice, once during the preliminary round and again in the championship game.

During the championship game with the score tied and only 13 seconds remaining, the Meat Packing Beef Boys notched the game winning goal and showed the semi-pro team why they are so tough to play against.

For the season, the Meat Packing Beef Boys were undefeated, compiling a 19-0-1 record.

B and Mini B
The MPBB were all “hockey” trained under the leadership of the legendary Monroe-Woodbury Ice Hockey Coaches “B” and “Mini B.” The young men credit these two coaches with providing them the foundation and skill set to compete in hockey and more importantly - life.

If it wasn’t for these two coaches, MPBB captain Brian “Pappy” Lifvergren said, he and his teammates would have never had so much success on and off the ice.

Their renowned 3 on 3’s, along with the coaches’ exemplary leadership style, have provided all the M-W graduates with the “secret formula” for success.

This “secret formula” has and never will be revealed by the members of the Meat Packing Beef Boys .

Sponsorships
The MPBB are looking for sponsors who would like to support the team for tournament, league and equipment fees. All serious inquiries should contact the team’s general manager and director of player development at MeatMan.MPBBGM@Gmail.com.
