Political endorsements
Voters this November will be asked to elect candidates for town boards, county legislature and county wide offices. Here's a summary of some of the endorsements: Tuxedo Republican Committee The Tuxedo Republican Town Committee has made the following endorsements for the 2005 election ballot, according to Jim Booth, the committee's secretary-treasurer: By unanimous vote the committee endorsed Dimitirios Lambros for County Legislator in the 8th District. Lambros, of Chester, is seeking re-election to a second term and will now represent Tuxedo due to redistricting. Shawn Parker of Port Jervis was the unanimous choice for County Coroner. He is running for the spot left vacant by the recent resignation of Coroner Patrick Beradinelli, Jr. In a very close vote, the committee endorsed Warwick attorney Christine Krahulik for Family Court Judge. Mrs. Krahulik has since dropped out of the race after losing the Orange County GOP Convention. Monroe Councilman Lori Currier Woods will now run as the GOP candidate against incumbent Family Court Judge Deb Keidasch, a Democrat. For town offices the committee unanimously endorsed Town Councilman William Lemanski for town supervisor. Lemanski who was first elected councilman in 1997 was the party's endorsed candidate for supervisor in 2003. (Lemanski is an independent contractor who covers the villages of Monroe and Harriman for The Photo News.) Running with Lemanski will be Zoning Board Member Daniel Castricone who was also unanimously endorsed by the committee and is making his second bid for the council position. The committee is still looking for qualified Republicans who might be interested in running for the second available council seat. The committee is also seeking a Town Justice candidate for this year. A candidate for Town Justice does not need to be an attorney. However, if elected, the candidate will need to pass a state mandated accreditation before taking office on Jan. 1. If you are interested in running for these two available positions, call Committee Secretary-Treasurer Jim Booth at (845)-527-6043. Republicans nominate Woods for Family Court The Orange County Republican Committee has endorsed Lori Currier Woods as the Republican candidate for Orange County Family Court Judge. She has specialized in family law, especially in cases regarding abused and neglected children, custody cases and juvenile delinquency. Woods, a former assistant district attorney and currently a child guardian, is a member of the Monroe Town Board. County GOP selects Caruso in 14th legislative race The Orange County Republican Committee has endorse Ralph Caruso for the 14th county legislative district, which covers the towns of Woodbury and Highlands. The seat is held by Democrat Roxanne L. Donnery of Highland Falls.
