On Wednesday, Feb. 10, State Police at Monroe arrested William S. Kleiber, 34, of Monroe, following a domestic incident that occurred on Saturday, Feb. 6.
According to the press release detailing the arrest, the State Police investigation revealed that Kleiber physically assaulted the victim. Police said he also prevented the victim from leaving the residence and from using their cell phone.
The victim was able to get to their vehicle and attempt to leave the area. As the victim was leaving the area, police said Kleiber damaged the vehicle by ripping off the passenger side door handle and smashing the windshield. There were two children in the vehicle during this altercation, police added.
Kleiber then left the location. Troopers located him on Feb. 10 traveling in the village of Monroe. Police said he was driving with a suspended license.
He was taken into custody and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation as well as the domestic charges of third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.
Kleiber was arraigned virtually in the City of Middletown Court and released on an appearance ticket.
