Monroe police officer rescues distressed pup
Monroe. The dog’s chain was caught and had tightened around its neck, restricting breathing.

Sometimes local police don’t just save the humans in the community. On occasion, a furry resident may need assistance, too. On December 16, Monroe Police Officer Anthony Luisi responded to a call for a dog that was reportedly trapped and unable to breathe.
When he arrived at the scene, Officer Luisi located the dog, Prince, and his owner in their backyard. According to Luisi, Prince had caught his chain collar between the wooden slats of a ramp that was attached to a shed on the property. Prince’s owners had reportedly been unsuccessful in their attempts to free Prince, who was barely getting air, as the chain around his neck continued to tighten.
Knowing that time was not on their side, Officer Luisi worked to quickly free Prince from the ramp. Prince expressed gratitude for his rescue by showering Officer Luisi with puppy kisses.
The Monroe Police Department took this incident as an opportunity to remind residents to check their pets’ equipment, and their homes, for potential hazards.
“Prince loves to sun bathe on that wooden ramp every day, and Prince’s owners never would have thought this could happen,” the police department shared on social media. “Officer Luisi made one pawtastic friend that will never forget him, and we are so thankful Prince is here to ring in the New Year!”
