HARRIMAN: Thirty-four year old man charged with endangering the life of his father

On March 18, 2025 at approximately 9:46 am, the Harriman Police received a 911 notification of an altercation involving a subject armed with a knife and another subject armed with a shotgun or rifle at a residence at 25 Snoop St.
According to a press release from Harriman Police Chief Patrick Tenaglia, multiple law enforcement agencies responded to assist, along with local EMS.
Investigation determined that Daniel Kochovos, a 34-year-old male from Harriman, threatened to stab his 70-year-old father with a knife. Both parties reside at that residence.
Officers made entry and secured the residence to ensure the safety of the victim.
Further investigation revealed that during the incident, the victim grabbed a shotgun because of his son’s threats. There were no reported injuries sustained by the suspect or victim.
Kochovos was charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person, a Class E felony, and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a Class A misdemeanor.
He was transported to Garnet Medical Center for evaluation.
Tenaglia said the rifles were secured from the scene for safekeeping.
The defendant was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Village of Harriman Court on April 17.
