Monroe-Woodbury's top ranked Scholar/Athletes
CENTRAL VALLEY - Each year the Orange County Intersholasic Athletic Association honors the top ranking male and female graduation athletes from each member school district. Monroe-Woodbury High Schools 2004 Scholar Athletes are Meghan Summers and Andrew Kopping. This year's Knote Speaker was Monroe-Woodbury Class of 1987 Graduate and former internatinal professional basketball player David Bernsley. Megan Summers, daughter of Phillip and Margaret Summers of Monoroe, particpated in Varsity soccer, where she served as team captain. She ranks fifth in her class with an average of 98.9. Megan, in addition to being a talented athlete, is also an accomplished All-State Musician and member of the National Honor Society. She plans to attend Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Andrew Kopping, son of Reinhard and Marueen Kopping of Monroe, is ranked eleventh in his class with and average of 97.8 and played Varsity Basketball. Andrew will major in Pre-Medicine at Pennsylvania State College in the Fall. A National Honor Society member, Andrew attends the Orange/Ulster B.O.C.E.s. New Visions Pre-Medical program in addition to his studies at Monroe-Woodbury.
