Mansion Ridge Golf Club may need new well
Monroe - Town Supervisor Sandy Leonard announced at this week’s board meeting that The Golf Club at Mansion Ridge may be considering drilling a new well for golf course irrigation. In response to concerns raised by local residents about rumors of a new well, Leonard said she contacted the state Department of Conservation, the golf course operator, American Golf Corporation; the Mansion Ridge Home Owners Association; and the property owner, Great Expectations, LLC. She said she learned that a new well is a possibility becasue of browning of the fairways during last summer’s dry spell. However, she said at this time there is no application, but a thorough Planning Board review and site plan approval will be required if a new well is desired. Irrigation water for the 18 hole course is currently provided from the adjacent subdivision’s waste water supplemented by a local stream. The American Golf Corporation developed The Golf Club at Mansion Ridge based on a 99-year property lease from Great Expectations and is the first Jack Nicklaus-designed course in New York.
