Warwick. Wickham Works announces its 2021 call for artists
Wickham Works announces its 2021 Call for Artists for an outdoor summer art exhibition in Warwick.
Following the success of their “Words from Warwick” exhibition, featuring the response of local artists to the Covid-19 Pandemic and displayed around town in August 2020, they are seeking to commission art works on the theme of “Finding Your Voice.”
Full details on how to apply are at WickhamWorks.Org.
The popular Earth Fest and Too Good to Toss events which Wickham Works usually hosts in April, are postponed to a later date.
Virtual Open Door Makers Lab evening social
However, the group offers a virtual Open Door Makers Lab evening social for adults and teens on the first Thursday of each month and free virtual Storytime and Making workshops for younger children.
“We’ve got exciting plans for working with youth groups at the Warwick Community Center, and will be working with their Prevention Coalition team to provide opportunities for creativity and community service,” said Artistic Director, Melissa Shaw-Smith. “And this year, we’re excited to extend our making workshops to students at the Alamo Farmworker Community Center in Goshen run by the Warwick Area Migrant Committee.”
Local Makers Market: May 1 and 2
The next in-person event for Wickham Works will be a spring Love Local Makers Market in Lewis Park, just in time for Mother’s Day, on Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2, with a rain-date of May 8.
“This is our way of supporting local makers during tough financial times when so many fairs and festivals have been cancelled,” said event producer Hannelore Chambers.
