Tuxedo welcomes a new principal to the George Grant Mason Lower School
Tuxedo. Paul Brown brings to the district more than a decade of experience in New York City, Poughkeepsie and Liberty.
The Tuxedo School District has announced the appointment of Paul Brown as the new principal of the George Grant Mason Lower School.
Brown comes to the Tuxedo with more than a decade of experience as an educator in New York City, Poughkeepsie and, most recently, as an assistant principal at the Liberty School District in Sullivan County.
He received his bachelor’s degree in history at SUNY Oneonta, his first master’s degree, in adolescent education, from Mercy College and his second master’s degree, in school administration, from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
The PTO hosted an evening event in which parents were able to meet him.
“As the parent of a two-year-old son, I recognize the importance of a strong home-to-school connection," Brown said in remarks to parents. “Over the coming months I look forward to getting to know the students, staff and parents. This knowledge will help me learn all about what makes GGM great and to help guide our future.”
In addition to being the principal, Brown will serve as the K-12 curriculum director for the district. As the curriculum director, Brown will evaluate current curriculum, ensuring alignment with Next Generation Learning Standards, and suggest future course offerings.
The Tuxedo School District has a K-12 STEM program that highlights components of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
