MONROE — Joon Paik and his son Kevin spent six hours over the course of three days building an igloo on their front lawn in Monroe, large enough that four adults can sit comfortably inside.
The dome was completed around 1 p.m. last Sunday, Feb. 22.
In an email exchange with The Photo News, Paik explained the project:
"I am a network engineer but I watched a Youtube video on how to make build an igloo by the National Film Board of Canada," he wrote.
"I started to use a hand saw to cutout blocks of frozen snow - about 6"x 12" x 20." This was the first two days because the snow was dry and wouldn't stick.
"But we had plenty of frozen snow.
"The third day, it snowed over night and it was more packable snow. We used a small trash can to mold blocks using fresh snow.
"We used snow and frozen snow only to fill gaps. No water."
Cool.
