North Main Elementary School third-grader Cassidy Patterson, fifth-grader Abigail Patterson and their mother Caroline Patterson are recent hair donors to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, which takes donated hair and creates wigs for those coping with hair loss due to disease or illness. The three Chester residents took two years to grow their hair so they would each have an eight inch length pony tail to donate while honoring those in their family touched by cancer and sharing a lesson in helping others. “Maybe one day they will share the same selfless gift and make a memory with their own daughters,” Caroline Patterson wrote. “It’s such an easy thing to do, yet many times we are too busy to make it happen. Even though they didn’t want their hair to be so short, they put a stranger’s needs above their own.”
