Studying the good word, doing the good deed
HARRIMAN — The following comes from Jean Marie Weinberg, who teaches the third grade religion class at St. Anastasia Religious Education program in Harriman:
“Every year, my only homework for them each week is to bring in a non-perishable food item for the food pantry and without fail each week I had a bag of food to drop off.
“At the end of the year we always pick an organization in need of help. This year we choose the Wounded Warriors over at West Point. Many of those soldiers come to the hospital without any of the daily necessities or anything to occupy them throughout their recovery time.
“So the children in my class collected toiletries, books, cards, games and some goodies for them. They also made them a get well card to send along.
“A parishioner at St. Anastasia’s, Rick Walls, who does a tremendous amount of work with the soldiers at West Point delivered it all on Memorial Day weekend along with 17 boxes of Girl Scout cookies donated by Girl Scout Troop 468.
“Please put them in the paper for all their hard work.”
