Skoufis elevates Monroe-Woodbury grad Yasmine Bouachri to senior team
Albany. State Sen. James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) announced the appointment of Yasmine Bouachri, a Monroe-Woodbury graduate, as his Legislative Director.
State Sen. James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) has announced the appointment of Yasmine Bouachri, a Monroe-Woodbury graduate, as his Legislative Director.
Bouachri most recently served as Skoufis’ Community Engagement Director, interfacing with area non-profits and community organizations, developing local events, and leading the office’s youth initiatives.
She takes over from longtime Skoufis staffer David Rabbitts, himself a M-W graduate, who was recently appointed to lead the office of Assemblyman Chris Eachus.
“Yasmine brings a unique blend of district familiarity, an understanding of state agencies and resources, and analytical chops to this role,” said Skoufis. “My team and I look to our Legislative Director to help set our policy priorities, advocate for our bills with other offices, and ultimately to deliver on behalf of constituents. I am delighted to welcome Yasmine into this role and to work together to maintain our strong, independent record of legislative accomplishment.”
“In my time with the Senator’s office, I’ve become deeply familiar with the Orange County communities we represent and the many ways in which Albany decision-making impacts the day-to-day lives of our constituents,” said Bouachri. “I look forward to helping Senator Skoufis continue to pass the most legislation of any of his colleagues and to deliver on behalf of our neighbors.”
Bouachri began her time in the Senator’s office as a district intern in 2020 before being offered a full-time position as a Constituent Services Specialist in 2021. She graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in American studies and currently resides in Woodbury.
