See Santa in Monroe this weekend
Monroe. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will make stops at Rest Haven, at the South Orange Family YMCA and at Monroe’s Winter Festival and Christmas tree lighting.
Santa is making some “preliminary” visits to Monroe in advance of Christmas Eve. Here’s where you can catch him:
· Saturday, Dec. 7: Second annual Meet Santa at Rest Haven, 236 High St., 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will fly by helicopter and land at Smith's Clove Park at 10:30 a.m., to be greeted by the Monroe police, fire and ambulance corps and children.
The couple will be transported to Rest Haven on the Mombasha Fire Department’s 1925 restored truck, followed by a horse and wagon to Rest Haven. The home is the only single structure with a designation on both the New York State and National Registry of Historical Places in Monroe.
At Rest Haven – which will be decorated for the holidays and include a 10-foot Christmas tree - guests will walk into the foyer to be greeted by different musical groups from Monroe-Woodbury High School, including two string quartets, one woodwind ensemble, one brass ensemble and carolers throughout the day. There will also be activities for children.
Organizers said the event is the result of many organizations in the community working together. To learn more: https://www.helenkellermonroeny.com/community-events.html
If the helicopter arrival needs to be cancelled due to weather, updates will be posted on this site by 7 p.m. on Dec. 6.

· Saturday, Dec. 14: South Orange Family YMCA Santa Day: 1 to 3 p.m.
Get into the holiday spirit by spending an afternoon with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Considered another of the Y’s signature community events, the afternoon includes holiday music and crafts. Children are invited to dress up for photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus and there will additionally be a holiday photo booth.
“Please help spread the holiday cheer by donating a new, unwrapped toy for our toy drive,” added Branch Executive Director Ross Miceli.
· Sunday, Dec. 8: Village of Monroe Winter Festival, 2 to 5 p.m.
Santa returns to Monroe the next day with Mrs. Claus and will be at the Millponds for hot cocoa, hayrides around the ponds, arts and crafts and snacks.
· Sunday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m.: Christmas tree lighting and another opportunity to visit with Santa
The annual Christmas tree lighting will take place at the entrance to Smith’s Clove Park on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m.
Caroling will also take place at 5 p.m.
Following the lighting of the trees, Santa arrives and will invite children to the park’s activity room for refreshments, giveaways and photos.
The event is sponsored by the Monroe Joint Park and Recreation Commission.
