Riders raise $10,000 for preschool roof

TUXEDO PARK — St. Mary’s-In-Tuxedo Episcopal Church recently held a “Rally Round the Roof” Bike Ride to raise funds for a new roof for its preschool building.

Riders chose from either a 10-mile ride around the lakes of Tuxedo Park or a 20-mile ride around the lakes and to Sterling Forest and back. Each rider had to secure monetary support in order to ride and thus far, more than $10,000 has been raised for the new roof, which is estimated to cost $20,000.

The youngest rider was 10 years old; the oldest a person in the seventies.

St. Mary’s Community Preschool has been educating children, ages 2, 3 and 4 since 1982. Before school and after school programs are also available. Registration is now under way for the 2013-14 academic year. Contact Preschool Director Ida Payne for more information, a tour and application forms.
