WARWICK — Registration is now open for the Orange County Bicycle Club’s annual “Country Roads Fall Foliage Bike Tour,” commonly known as “The Ride with the Camels,” to be held Sunday, Sept. 16, beginning and ending at Warwick Town Park.
The charity bike tour will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange and Sullivan, and The Sanctuary for Animals, home to the tour’s “famous camels.”
The Country Roads tour offers participants four cycling routes of 10, 25, 45, or 65 miles each.
“Riders have the option of riding individually at their own pace following marked and signed roads with accompanying cue sheets or riding in a group led by an experienced Orange County Bicycle Club member,” said Monroe resident Bill Stelz, club president.
The pre-registration fee is $35 per adult rider, which includes complimentary cycling socks, and $10 for children under age 12.
The cost for “day of event” registration is $45 per adult and $15 per child under 12. However, socks are not included for “day of” registrations.
Tour day registration and check-in will open at 7:30 a.m. Recommended departure times are 8 a.m. for the 65-mile route, 8:30 a.m. for the 45-mile route, 10 a.m. for the 25-mile route, and 10:30 a.m. for the 10-mile route.
Registered riders will see well-marked routes and SAG support will be available to assist riders as needed.
Rest stops will be placed at reasonable intervals along each of the routes and include snacks, beverages, and bathroom facilities.
Lunch and live music will be provided at Warwick Town Park following the ride.
