Planning board to consider year-round school at Camp Monroe

The Town of Chester Planning Board will consider an application for a year-round school at Camp Monroe at its next meeting, to be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct, 2, at town hall, 1786 Kings Highway.

Attorney David Hall will be representing Dov Marguiles of 99 Brookside Avenue, Chester. Camp Monroe is located at 162 Trout Road.

The Congregation of Heichal Torah requests a special permit so that the camp may be used year-round. During the winter -- November 1 to May 31 -- the Congregation seeks to hold a day school for children. There will be no occupancy overnight, only during the day.

According to the application:

The hours will be Sunday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Fridays, 6:30 a.m. to noon.

There is expected to be approximately 150 students and six teachers in the morning and six in the afternoon.

One bus will operate. It will drop children off in front of the building so there is no disturbance of the main road.

All teachers and staff cars as well as visitors will be parked in the buildings parking lot. There will be no vehicles on the street.
