MONROE — JPanera Bread (Take Home the Bread, LLC franchise owner) opened its newest bakery-café in Monroe at 340 Larkin Drive.

To celebrate the opening, the eatery hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local Chamber of Commerce members. In addition, the company presented a $25,000 check to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley.

“We’re so appreciative for the wonderful support we’ve received from the community," said Kristin Hairabedian, Marketing Manager, Take Home the Bread, LLC, in the company's press release announcing the opening. "And in the tradition of Panera ‘giving’ we’re pleased to donate to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley.

Panera Bread has worked to help combat the problem of hunger for 25 years, since it began donating unsold bread and baked goods to local organizations.

Under its Day-End Dough-Nation program, Panera Bread bakery-cafes nationally (company and franchise) donated a retail value of approximately $100 million worth of unsold bread and baked goods.
