Orange County administers nearly 9,500 COVID-19 vaccinations to residents

Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus has announced that the County administered nearly 9,500 COVID-19 vaccinations to residents in less than a week.
“I have advocated fiercely for the state to send Orange County an adequate number of vaccines and I am pleased that we are finally receiving more doses,” Neuhaus said. “We will continue to ask the state for more vaccines and will distribute it safely, equitably, and as efficiently as possible.”
All three vaccines in use
The week culminated with back-to-back clinics at the county’s Point of Distribution (POD) at 23 Hatfield Lane in Goshen, where a total of 4,400 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine were administered on Saturday, March 6, and Sunday, March 7. The county collaborated with Horizon Family Medical Group for the two-day Point of Dispensing (POD).
Orange County also worked with Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall (MSLC) to vaccinate 2,341 residents with the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Friday, March 5, at SUNY Orange’s Newburgh campus.
A day earlier, the county administered more than 1,700 first dose Moderna vaccines at Hatfield.
Nine-hundred residents received their second dose of the Moderna vaccine at Hatfield on Tuesday, March 2.
The county prioritized residents over the age of 65, but also vaccinated a wide variety of those eligible, including teachers, first responders, healthcare professionals and men and women with pre-existing health conditions this week.
“I would like to thank residents for their patience during the vaccination rollout and want you to know that I have been inspired by your resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Neuhaus said. “I would also like to acknowledge the continued hard work of our staff and volunteers during this time, which has made me very proud, and I’m grateful for our key private sector medical partners, Horizon Family Medical Group and MSLC.”
‘Am I Eligible’
New York State has established state-operated sites across the state. Residents can utilize the State’s online “Am I Eligible?” tool at https://am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/ to determine if they are currently eligible for vaccinations and, if so, will see a list of those state-operated locations where appointments may be available. Additionally, New York State has begun limited distribution of the vaccine to various pharmacy locations throughout the State.
Appointments can be made through New York State’s COVID-19 Vaccination Hotline, 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829), at New York State-run sites.
