Monroe-Woodbury High School recently highlighted Elaina Wood as part of its Student Spotlight series. She was recognized for her accomplishments as a scholar-athlete, starting for a second year with the girls’ flag football team while maintaining a grade point average of 93. She also takes honors and AP courses.

As a flag football star, she plays the position of a defensive rusher. According to the school, at the end of April she registered 42 tackles, some of which were quarterback sacks.

Her coach, Elaine Schellberg said, “Elaina is a true Crusader. She is ‘locked in’ in the classroom and on the athletic field. Besides striving to be her personal best, she pushes and supports her classmates and teammates to do the same.”

The school district added, “Congratulations to MWHS Student-Athlete Elaina Wood for your impressive accomplishments on and off the field! You truly embody the characteristics of a Monroe-Woodbury Crusader.”
