Monroe-Woodbury High School senior receives four-year ROTC Scholarship
MONROE — Reegan Seeley, 18, of Monroe, was awarded both the U.S. Army ROTC and U.S. Air Force ROTC four-year Advanced Designee Scholarship that will cover four years of education at the college of her choice.
Reegan has chosen to accept the Army scholarship. After being accepted to SUNY Stony Brook, James Madison University, George Mason University, University of Tennessee and the University of Kentucky, she has decided to continue her education and start her military training at the University of Kentucky.
The scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors through intense competition. There are more than 25,000 applicants for ROTC scholarships per year of which less than 4,000 seniors receive a four-year scholarship.
Four-year Advanced Designee scholarship winners are required to participate in Army ROTC through all four years of undergraduate studies.
Reegan plans on majoring in biology with the hopes of being a physician in the military and minoring in epidemiology.
After she finishes college, she has the option to attend graduate school and will have to fulfill her eight-year military obligation as well.
