Monroe. Town of Monroe Compost Facility will open beginning May 30

The Town of Monroe Compost Facility will be open on Saturdays only from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning May 30.

Highway Superintendent John Scherne offered the following guidelines:

· All residents must wear a mask and gloves when at the Compost Facility.

· The facility will close June 27 and reopen again in the Fall.

· There is no cost for Town residents to use the facility.

Please be reminded that the Town of Monroe Highway Department does not pick up brush or leaves in the Spring. Therefore, Town residents are encouraged to use the Compost Facility.

· The facility will accept leaves and brush (brush must be tied, under four feet in length and no larger than five inches in diameter). No grass clippings, logs or wood will be accepted.
