Monroe. National Honor Art students paint the town; well, not really but they did decorate the library
On Oct. 22, the Monroe-Woodbury National Art Honor Society (NAHS) students got into the Halloween spirit while painting the windows of the Monroe Free Library on Millpond Parkway.
The art students used their talents to paint Halloween and Fall-themed characters and scenes.
In past years, the NAHS students have painted storefronts in the downtown. However, due to unexpected road and sidewalk construction, the library offered all of their windows to the students.
“I am so impressed with our high school art students’ talent,” Mary Duffy, the assistant director of the Monroe Free Library, said. “What a wonderful group of joyful young people! I am enjoying the window art every day, along with all of our Monroe Free Library patrons. The library looks so festive. Thank you to all the teachers, organizers, and talented students.
Monroe-Woodbury NAHS Advisor Elizabeth Pesce and Art Teacher Kathleen Gitto accompanied the students on the field trip. “The effort these students put into their work is astounding, and this real-life experience will give them memories to carry with them for a lifetime. I am privileged to be working with such talents,” Pesce said.
The Monroe Downtown Revitalization Committee was on hand to provide snacks to the hardworking students.
The next time you are in downtown Monroe, make sure to stop by the library and have a frightfully fun time checking out this fantastic seasonal display.
