As students are preparing to return to school, two deserving young Monroe area students are the recipients of The Justin T. Dimino Memorial Scholarship, as announced at the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan annual reception in July.
A student of Sacred Heart School, Monroe Vianka Rivera Osoria will be entering Burke Catholic in September, and Vincent Quintana, Monroe-Woodbury High School, will be a freshman at Western Connecticut State College.
These scholarships are made possible through the support and generosity of the community by their participation in the Walk for Justin held for five years.
The families, businesses, students and staff of Monroe-Woodbury High School, the Rotary Club of Monroe-Woodbury and all the walkers were the heart of these fund-raising activities bringing financial support, as well as awareness to suicide and its prevention which affects every age group and every community.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (914-610-9156, 888-333-2377) will be holding its Out of Darkness Community Walk at Thomas Bull Memorial Park, Montgomery, on Sunday, Sept. 13. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Please mark your calendars and join Team Justin in the Walk to fight suicide.
