The Town of Monroe recently planted a tree in member of longtime town employee Elizabeth “Betty” Sapp. Town Supervisor Tony Cardone wrote the following in his monthly newsletter:
“One of the most special parts of the Town of Monroe are the people who live here, work here and make an impact on our community.
“Elizabeth “Betty” Sapp embodied all of the above.
“On Aug. 3, several town and village employees and officials, both past and present, gathered to dedicate a tree planted in memory of Betty who passed away in 2022.
“Betty worked in the Town of Monroe Assessor’s Office for more than 23 years, having retired in 2008.
“Prior to that, she worked in the Town Clerk’s office, assisting with tax collection. We are grateful for Betty’s many years of dedicated service to the Town of Monroe and its residents.
“The tree, located on the island in the lower parking lot of Town Hall, will serve as a beautiful reminder of a life well lived and in service to the residents of our community.”
